Bit-Interleaved Coded Energy-Based Modulation With Iterative Decoding

This paper develops a low-complexity suboptimal non-coherent receiver for multi-level energy-based coded modulation system. Inspired by the turbo processing principle, we incorporate fundamentals of bit-interleaved with iterative decoding (BICM-ID) into proposed design. The resulting system is called (BICEM-ID) and its error performance analytically studied. Specifically, derive upper bounds on average pairwise probability (PEP) BICEM-ID in feedback-free (FF) error-free feedback (EFF) scenarios. It revealed that definition nearest neighbors, which important analysis FF scenario, very different from coherent BICM-ID counterpart. also reveals how mapping bits to energy levels influences diversity order coding gain systems. A design criterion good mappings then formulated, an algorithm find set best BICEM-ID. Finally, simulation results corroborate main analytical findings.
